About Me

Photography has been a passion of mine since high school many years ago. After graduating college with a degree in Fine Arts concentrating on photography and architecture, and then playing squash professionally for several years, I did the obvious thing given my background and became....a doctor. Over the years there have been periods with little opportunity to photograph. However, there have been other more creative stretches of time when I have had the luxury to concentrate on artistic endeavors. Most of my projects have been in the street photography realm, however a broad interpretation of the term may be needed for some of the work. More recently, and in part due to Covid, I completed a landscape project. It was somewhat of a  departure for me, and proved challenging on many fronts. However, I enjoyed it immensely and like how the project turned out.  

I have moved around a lot in my life - living in many countries and at countless addresses. Countries I have called home include the US, Canada, New Zealand, Botswana, and South Africa. The images on this site represent photo projects undertaken at several stops along the way. Most recently, the series entitled "Cape Town Street Redux" was shot over the past year upon moving back to South Africa from the US. "Sonoma County" was done from 2019-2021 in California. The first "Cape Town Street" photos were done in 2017-2018 during a previous stint living in South Africa. And an earlier set was done many years ago from 2010-2012 in the Mission District in San Francisco.
